HomeInsightsOne IPO Service: Roadmap published

The Intellectual Property Office has published a roadmap for its ‘One IPO Service’.

As we have previously discussed (for example here), the IPO has embarked on a ‘Transformation Programme’ aimed at modernising and improving the services it offers. Central to that vision is the ‘One IPO Service’, intended to provide a single platform for registering and managing UK intellectual property rights.

According to the IPO, the new features of its ‘One IPO’ platform will include:

  • An IPO account allowing users to view, manage and update all of their UK intellectual property rights in one place;
  • New ‘digital application services’ which will enable users to save and share draft applications and submit information in an order that suits them;
  • New online search tools; and
  • A new digital service for managing IP challenges and disputes.

Following the introduction of the new One IPO Search service and the piloting of the wider service to a limited number of customers last year, the full launch of the One IPO Patents Service for all users is scheduled for 31 March 2026. The roadmap explains the remaining hurdles that must first be overcome, as well as what users can expect during its first year of operation.

Alongside the roadmap, the IPO has also published the first in a series of video demonstrations of the One IPO Service (on its YouTube channel, here), enabling prospective users to see how the platform will operate in practice.

Following the launch of the patents service, the IPO will turn its attention to developing the new digital trade marks service, followed by the new digital services for registered designs and the IPO tribunal.
